Obituary of Gordon Bant
Gordon Henry Bant - December 30, 1941 - February 1, 2018, passed away peacefully at home in Georgetown in his 77th year. Son of the late Thomas H. and Kathleen E. Bant. Brother to Sharon (Michael) Flaherty and Marilyn (Guy) Champagne. Father to Greg, and Karen (Jason) Bernard. Grandfather to Sean, Shyanne and Ashton and great-grandfather to Violet. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Vonsolkema). Remembered by her children the late Melanie Dale, Michael (Christy) and Jeremy (Meghan) Baker. Their children Shannon Dale, Emma and Parke Baker. Gordon grew up in Marathon and was an avid scout and received the Queen's Scout award. He was also very involved in the Teen-Antics where they performed many plays with the youth of Marathon. He was also an avid curler and played many bonspiels in Northern Ontario. He was a graduate of Ryerson University and a long time sales and marketing manager for American Can during his career, travelling worldwide for that company. Gordon spent many years at Mosport Raceway as a track crew and ended up becoming Clerk of the Course in charge of all crews. For a number of years he was a member of the Rotary Club in Brampton and Barrie and received the Paul Harris award for community service. His body will be cremated and at his request there will be no local service. His ashes will be brought to Marathon later in the summer and there will be a graveside committal service.
